cayo caguama

Located in Los Jardinas de la Reina on the south side of Cuba.
As the name suggests, the "Iguana Key" in "Queens Gardens", about 50 min. flight from Santa Lucia airport.
This is a totally virgin island, accept for an open air restaurant owned by "Marlin" a dive boat, a very cool captain included.
You get here by Aero Taxi, a 50 year old Russian Antonov2 Double Decker. Don't worry about flying, and diving. On the way there, they fly at 1,000M, so skip your afternoon dive the day before. On the way back, they never exceed 160M. The best way to arrange this trip, is through Sharks Friends dive shop, in Santa Lucia-talk to Macao... If you can manage to put a group of 6 - 8 divers together (not hard to do) it should cost around U$ 65.00 each. One dive only, because of the aircraft's weight limit. It's absolutely beyond me, why they don't have a compressor here. I would stay for a week, and gladly sleep in a tent, that's how good the diving is!
After your dive you can have lunch, fish-$7.00, lobster- $10.00, beer-$1.00, and then enjoy the beautiful, deserted white sand beach, that stretches as far, as one can see. You'll be back in Santa Lucia in time for dinner.
We have done this four times, so far, and feel it's well worth the price.

PLEASE NOTE:
Currently this location is no longer available by Aero Taxi.
It can be accessed by a boat, but this involves a car trip from where ever you are based.
